Eurostat Population On 1 January — Total Population By Country, EU And Euro Area Aggregates, Every EU Member State, EFTA, UK, Candidate And Neighbouring Countries, Annual (1960–Present)
3,040 country-year observations of the resident population on 1 January (both sexes, all ages) for 59 geographies (EU and euro-area aggregates, every EU member state, Germany including the former GDR, metropolitan France, EFTA countries, the UK, candidate countries and neighbouring states such as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and the Caucasus), 1960 to 2025, from the Eurostat dissemination API as of 2026-09-06. Each value is dated to the 1 January it refers to; Eurostat's break, estimate and provisional flags are not carried.

Methodology
JSON-stat 2.0 dataset decoded into long format (geo, year, value) for sex=T, age=TOTAL, unit=NR; null cells dropped.
Update Schedule
Static snapshot. Published each summer for the 1 January of the same year, with revisions as national data arrive; refresh weekly.
