Our World In Data Child Mortality Rate — Share Of Newborns Dying Before Age Five, Every Country, Region And The World, Annual (1751–Present)
17,066 entity-year observations of the child mortality rate, the estimated share of newborns who die before reaching age five in percent of live births, for 200 countries and 13 regions, income groups and the world (aggregates carry OWID codes such as OWID_WRL), 1751 to 2024, from Our World in Data's child-mortality grapher export as of 2026-09-06. The series splices Gapminder's long-run estimates with UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation data from 1932 onward, preferring UN IGME where both exist.

Methodology
Direct parse of the OWID grapher CSV export with short column names; value column child_mortality_rate renamed to under_five_mortality_pct (deaths per 100 live births), rows without a value dropped, all entities kept.
Update Schedule
Static snapshot. OWID refreshes after each annual UN IGME release; refresh weekly.
